When building gki_defconfig outside of the Android build system, copying
protected_exports fails:
$ make -skj"$(nproc)" LLVM=1 O=build gki_defconfig all
cp: cannot create regular file '/protected_exports': Permission denied
...
OUT_DIR is an Android build.sh specific variable, so it will not be
defined when using just kbuild. Use objtree instead, which is guaranteed
to be available through kbuild directly; OUT_DIR is passed to make via
O, which is used to ultimately define objtree, so there is no functional
change.
Bug: 268678245
Change-Id: I235cef7c848a7cf9df9d7d5343af33d95b501a15
Fixes: 3e08ef692d ("ANDROID: GKI: Do not modify protected exports source list")
Signed-off-by: Nathan Chancellor <nathan@kernel.org>
Header generation script is using the protected exports list
as a source to generate the header file during the kernel build.
Script preporcess the symbols in-place before using it to generate
an array of symbols for protected exports causing the source file
to change. This may force the kleaf to build kernel again even
though there are no real changes in terms of symbols.
Use a copy as a temp file for processing leaving the source file
un affected.
Unprotected symbol list is already a temp file; so it doesn't
affect that target.

[ Upstream commit 22e46f6480e83bcf49b6d5e6b66c81872c97a902 ]
When CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_KEY is PKCS#11 URI (pkcs11:*), signing of modules
fails:
scripts/sign-file sha256 /.../linux/pkcs11:token=foo;object=bar;pin-value=1111 certs/signing_key.x509 /.../kernel/crypto/tcrypt.ko
Usage: scripts/sign-file [-dp] <hash algo> <key> <x509> <module> [<dest>]
scripts/sign-file -s <raw sig> <hash algo> <x509> <module> [<dest>]
First, we need to avoid adding the $(srctree)/ prefix to the URL.
Second, since the kconfig string values no longer include quotes, we need to add
them again when passing a PKCS#11 URI to sign-file. This avoids
splitting by the shell if the URI contains semicolons.
Fixes: 4db9c2e3d0 ("kbuild: stop using config_filename in scripts/Makefile.modsign")
Fixes: 129ab0d2d9 ("kbuild: do not quote string values in include/config/auto.conf")

Add an option to only keep unique symbols during the
symbol list prep phase as for header generation symbol
list needs to be unique union of all vendor symbol
lists in an ascending order.
This reduces the array size and improves the lookup
time for the binary search.

[ Upstream commit c96618275234ad03d44eafe9f8844305bb44fda4 ]
Joe found another DT file that shouldn't be executable, and that
frustrated me enough that I went hunting with this script:
git ls-files -s |
grep '^100755' |
cut -f2 |
xargs grep -L '^#!'
and that found another file that shouldn't have been marked executable
either, despite being in the scripts directory.
Maybe these two are the last ones at least for now. But I'm sure we'll
be back in a few years, fixing things up again.

commit 7ae4ba7195b1bac04a4210a499da9d8c63b0ba9c upstream.
The instructions for the ftrace-bisect.sh script, which is used to find
what function is being traced that is causing a kernel crash, and possibly
a triple fault reboot, uses the old method. In 5.1, a new feature was
added that let the user write in the index into available_filter_functions
that maps to the function a user wants to set in set_ftrace_filter (or
set_ftrace_notrace). This takes O(1) to set, as suppose to writing a
function name, which takes O(n) (where n is the number of functions in
available_filter_functions).
The ftrace-bisect.sh requires setting half of the functions in
available_filter_functions, which is O(n^2) using the name method to enable
and can take several minutes to complete. The number method is O(n) which
takes less than a second to complete. Using the number method for any
kernel 5.1 and after is the proper way to do the bisect.
Update the usage to reflect the new change, as well as using the
/sys/kernel/tracing path instead of the obsolete debugfs path.

Remove dependency on kleaf intermediate abi_symbollist.raw
and use vendor symbol lists as dependencies for header
generation targets. This prevents the feature to break in
case kleaf path and/or sandboxes changes and rebuilds the
header files if any vendor symbol list changes.
Update the header generation script to process the symbol lists
before generating headers to make sure symbols are in byte order,
any symbol list marker, whitespaces and emptylines are removed
for kernel binary search API.

To meet FIPS requirements, fips140.ko must check its own integrity at
load time. This requires that it know where its .text and .rodata
sections are. To allow this, make the module linker script support
defining symbols that enclose these sections.
In addition, support creating an .initcalls section, so that fips140.ko
can include code from what would normally be multiple modules by
compiling it as "built-in" code.

Only signed GKI modules are permitted to export symbols
listed in the android/abi_gki_protected_exports file.

Since 2df8220cc5 ("kbuild: build init/built-in.a just once"),
generating Debian packages using 'make bindeb-pkg' results in
packages that are stuck to the same .version, leading to unexpected
behaviours (multiple packages with the same version).
That's because the mkdebian script samples the build version
before building the kernel, and forces the use of that version
number for the actual build.
Restore the previous behaviour by calling init/build-version
instead of reading the .version file. This is likely to result
in too many .version bumps, but this is what was happening before
(although the bump was affecting builds made after the current one).

Commit 1d1a0e7c51 ("scripts/faddr2line: Fix overlapping text section
failures") can cause faddr2line to fail on ppc64le on some
distributions, while it works fine on other distributions. The failure
can be attributed to differences in the readelf output.
$ ./scripts/faddr2line vmlinux find_busiest_group+0x00
no match for find_busiest_group+0x00
On ppc64le, readelf adds the localentry tag before the symbol name on
some distributions, and adds the localentry tag after the symbol name on
other distributions. This problem has been discussed previously:
https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/20191211160133.GB4580@calabresa/
This problem can be overcome by filtering out the localentry tags in the
readelf output. Similar fixes are already present in the kernel by way
of the following commits:
1fd6cee127 ("libbpf: Fix VERSIONED_SYM_COUNT number parsing")
aa915931ac ("libbpf: Fix readelf output parsing for Fedora")

generate corrupted code on s390. See e.g. commit e9953b729b
("s390/boot: workaround llvm IAS bug") for further details.
While there have been workarounds applied for all known existing
locations, there is nothing that prevents that new code with
problematic patterns will be added.
Therefore raise the minimum clang version to 15.0.0. Note that llvm
commit e547b04d5b2c ("[SystemZ] Bugfix for symbolic displacements."),
which is included in 15.0.0, fixes the broken code generation.

Since commit d05377e184 ("kconfig: Create links to main menu items
in search"), menuconfig shows a jump key next to "Main menu" if the
nearest visible parent is the rootmenu. If you press that jump key,
menuconfig crashes with a segmentation fault.
For example, do this:
$ make ARCH=arm64 allnoconfig menuconfig
Press '/' to search for the string "ACPI". Press '1' to choose
"(1) Main menu". Then, menuconfig crashed with a segmentation fault.
The following code in search_conf()
conf(targets[i]->parent, targets[i]);
results in NULL pointer dereference because targets[i] is the rootmenu,
which does not have a parent.
Commit d05377e184 tried to fix the issue of top-level items not having
a jump key, but adding the "Main menu" was not the right fix.
The correct fix is to show the searched item itself. This fixes another
weird behavior described in the comment block.

Add CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_PROTECT to enable lookup for the unprotected
symbols from the build time generated list of symbols.
Module loading behavior will change as follows:
- Allows Android GKI Modules signed using MODULE_SIG_ALL during build.
- Allows other modules to load if they don't violate the access to
Android GKI protected symbols. Loading will fail and return
-EACCES (Permission denied) if these modules access the symbol which
is not allowlisted via symbol list or exported by a GKI module.

The modpost build phase was refactored upstream in commit f73edc8951
("kbuild: unify two modpost invocations"). The new implementation does
not generate a vmlinux.symvers which our existing mixed build
implementation depends upon to match the KMI between the modules and GKI
kernel (via depmod). Since the Module.symvers is equal to the
vmlinux.symvers + modules-only.symvers, this patch adds support to
generate the vmlinux.symvers in order to continue using the existing
mixed build implementation.
Just a couple of notes:
1) This allows us to use the same mixed build implementation for
android14-6.1 and android14-5.15 without making any build tooling
changes.
2) This implementation won't catch build-time vendor changes to GKI
Module CRCs during modpost. This is due to the fact that we are
only using the vmlinux.symvers from the GKI kernel pass and not
including the CRCs for the GKI modules.

When debugging LLVM IR, it can be handy for clang to not discard value
names used for local variables and parameters. Compare the generated IR.
-fdiscard-value-names:
define i32 @core_sys_select(i32 %0, ptr %1, ptr %2, ptr %3, ptr %4) {
%6 = alloca i64
%7 = alloca %struct.poll_wqueues
%8 = alloca [64 x i32]
-fno-discard-value-names:
define i32 @core_sys_select(i32 %n, ptr %inp, ptr %outp, ptr %exp,
ptr %end_time) {
%expire.i = alloca i64
%table.i = alloca %struct.poll_wqueues
%stack_fds = alloca [64 x i32]
The rule for generating human readable LLVM IR (.ll) is only useful as a
debugging feature:
$ make LLVM=1 fs/select.ll
As Fangrui notes:
A LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS=off build of Clang defaults to
-fdiscard-value-names.
A LLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS=on build of Clang defaults to
-fno-discard-value-names.
Explicitly enable -fno-discard-value-names so that the IR always contains
value names regardless of whether assertions were enabled or not.
Assertions generally are not enabled in releases of clang packaged by
distributions.

vmlinux.bz2 was added to the rpm packages in 2009 in the
fc370ecfdb ("kbuild: add vmlinux to kernel rpm") but seemingly hasn't
been used since.
Originally this should have been split up in a seperate debugging
package because it massively increases the size of the generated rpm's
e.g. kernel rpm built using binrpm-pkg on Fedora 36 default 5.19.8 kernel
config and localmodconfig is ~255MB with vmlinux.bz2 and only ~65MB
without it.
Make the kernel built rpms about 4x smaller by not including the unused
vmlinux.bz2 in them.

Core
----
- Introduce and use a single page frag cache for allocating small skb
heads, clawing back the 10-20% performance regression in UDP flood
test from previous fixes.
- Run packets which already went thru HW coalescing thru SW GRO.
This significantly improves TCP segment coalescing and simplifies
deployments as different workloads benefit from HW or SW GRO.
- Shrink the size of the base zero-copy send structure.
- Move TCP init under a new slow / sleepable version of DO_ONCE().
BPF
---
- Add BPF-specific, any-context-safe memory allocator.
- Add helpers/kfuncs for PKCS#7 signature verification from BPF
programs.
- Define a new map type and related helpers for user space -> kernel
communication over a ring buffer (BPF_MAP_TYPE_USER_RINGBUF).
- Allow targeting BPF iterators to loop through resources of one
task/thread.
- Add ability to call selected destructive functions.
Expose crash_kexec() to allow BPF to trigger a kernel dump.
Use CAP_SYS_BOOT check on the loading process to judge permissions.
- Enable BPF to collect custom hierarchical cgroup stats efficiently
by integrating with the rstat framework.
- Support struct arguments for trampoline based programs.
Only structs with size <= 16B and x86 are supported.
- Invoke cgroup/connect{4,6} programs for unprivileged ICMP ping
sockets (instead of just TCP and UDP sockets).
- Add a helper for accessing CLOCK_TAI for time sensitive network
related programs.
- Support accessing network tunnel metadata's flags.
- Make TCP SYN ACK RTO tunable by BPF programs with TCP Fast Open.
- Add support for writing to Netfilter's nf_conn:mark.
Protocols
---------
- WiFi: more Extremely High Throughput (EHT) and Multi-Link
Operation (MLO) work (802.11be, WiFi 7).
- vsock: improve support for SO_RCVLOWAT.
- SMC: support SO_REUSEPORT.
- Netlink: define and document how to use netlink in a "modern" way.
Support reporting missing attributes via extended ACK.
- IPSec: support collect metadata mode for xfrm interfaces.
- TCPv6: send consistent autoflowlabel in SYN_RECV state
and RST packets.
- TCP: introduce optional per-netns connection hash table to allow
better isolation between namespaces (opt-in, at the cost of memory
and cache pressure).
- MPTCP: support TCP_FASTOPEN_CONNECT.
- Add NEXT-C-SID support in Segment Routing (SRv6) End behavior.
- Adjust IP_UNICAST_IF sockopt behavior for connected UDP sockets.
- Open vSwitch:
- Allow specifying ifindex of new interfaces.
- Allow conntrack and metering in non-initial user namespace.
- TLS: support the Korean ARIA-GCM crypto algorithm.
- Remove DECnet support.
Driver API
----------
- Allow selecting the conduit interface used by each port
in DSA switches, at runtime.
- Ethernet Power Sourcing Equipment and Power Device support.
- Add tc-taprio support for queueMaxSDU parameter, i.e. setting
per traffic class max frame size for time-based packet schedules.
- Support PHY rate matching - adapting between differing host-side
and link-side speeds.
- Introduce QUSGMII PHY mode and 1000BASE-KX interface mode.
- Validate OF (device tree) nodes for DSA shared ports; make
phylink-related properties mandatory on DSA and CPU ports.
Enforcing more uniformity should allow transitioning to phylink.
- Require that flash component name used during update matches one
of the components for which version is reported by info_get().
- Remove "weight" argument from driver-facing NAPI API as much
as possible. It's one of those magic knobs which seemed like
a good idea at the time but is too indirect to use in practice.
- Support offload of TLS connections with 256 bit keys.

Pull SELinux updates from Paul Moore:
"Six SELinux patches, all are simple and easily understood, but a list
of the highlights is below:
- Use 'grep -E' instead of 'egrep' in the SELinux policy install
script.
Fun fact, this seems to be GregKH's *second* dedicated SELinux
patch since we transitioned to git (ignoring merges, the SPDX
stuff, and a trivial fs reference removal when lustre was yanked);
the first was back in 2011 when selinuxfs was placed in
/sys/fs/selinux. Oh, the memories ...
- Convert the SELinux policy boolean values to use signed integer
types throughout the SELinux kernel code.
Prior to this we were using a mix of signed and unsigned integers
which was probably okay in this particular case, but it is
definitely not a good idea in general.
- Remove a reference to the SELinux runtime disable functionality in
/etc/selinux/config as we are in the process of deprecating that.
See [1] for more background on this if you missed the previous
notes on the deprecation.
- Minor cleanups: remove unneeded variables and function parameter
constification"
