This is needed to avoid this
https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/13774 when we go back to
making our subproject directory `src`.

This is a bug-fix release. Among other things, it fixes building on Mac
OS X (Snow Leopard), and improves the contents of `/etc/passwd` and
`/etc/group` in `chroot` builds.
